How to Set Up GEST
Quick Start Guide
Looking for a simple way to set up your GEST Service Call System?
This step-by-step guide will walk you through installation, device configuration, and first-time use so you can get GEST running in minutes.
GEST Compatibility
GEST works with:
- Apple: iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches
- Android: Phones, Tablets, Smart Watches
It requires Bluetooth-enabled and a minimum iOS 14 (or Android equivalent). Compatible with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) networks.
Setup Requirements
Before you start:
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone.
- Ensure your device software is up to date.
- Have internet access (required for notifications).
Step 1 – Install the GEST App
- Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Search “GEST Service Call”.
- Download and install the app.
- Open the app and log in with the credentials provided by the GEST Team.
For Apple Watch: log in first on your iPhone, then on your Watch.
Step 2 – Choose Local or Cloud Setup
When prompted, select one of the following:
- Local Server: Your iPhone must be connected to the same network as the local server.
- Cloud Server: Login with your GEST credentials.
Step 3 – First Login
- Enter the credentials provided by the GEST Team.
- Save credentials for quick access.
- Update your password (8–16 characters).
- Optionally edit display name and profile picture.
Step 4 – Add Staff Members
- Go to your account settings.
- Add or edit Staff Members (roles: Chief of Staff or Staff Member).
- Toggle permissions for emergency call access.
Step 5 – Add Locations
- Tap Add Location (e.g., “Dining Room” or “Office”).
- Save and continue.
Step 6 – Turn On Your GEST Device
- Use the included pin to press the ON/OFF button at the bottom.
- Wait until the device ring spins purple (configuration mode).
Step 7 – Wi-Fi Setup
- Enable Bluetooth.
- Enter your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password.
- Save and tap Configure new devices.
- The GEST device will:
- Spin purple → yellow
- Pulse blue once → device recognised
Step 8 – Approve Devices in the App
- Select Approve to add the device.
- Rename if needed.
- Tap Save → then Ready.
You’ve successfully configured your GEST System!
Using the GEST device
- Make a Call: Hold until the ring lights up.
- Cancel a Call: Hold until the ring turns off.
- Emergency Call: Hold until the ring turns red.
Indicator Lights:
- Green pulse: Call accepted
- Purple spin: Configuration mode
- Yellow spin: Connecting to Wi-Fi
- Yellow filling while charging: Battery level
Charging & Battery
- Always use the official GEST charger (prevents overcharging).
- Full charge: ~6 hours.
- Idle discharge: 2–5 days.
Troubleshooting
- Reset Device → Press ON/OFF 5 times until the purple spin.
- Error States → White pulses indicate specific issues (e.g., Wi-Fi failure, server connection).
